A Little Project with a Lot of Heart 30.11.25
Adventurer’s Cottage - Rear View
Every so often we work on a project where the design story is only half the story. Adventurer’s Cottage in Hampshire is very much one of those.
The clients came to us with a small listed cottage, a big ambition, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves. What started as a plan to create a simple 40 sqm extension quickly became a self-build adventure of its own. They handled much of the construction themselves, with House Form on hand whenever they needed technical advice, drawings checked, or someone to talk through a site dilemma over the phone.
This is the kind of project that reminds us how collaborative architecture can be. We shaped the design and navigated the listed building consent for the grade II cottage, but the clients brought the build to life day by day with impressive skill and determination.
The result is a home that feels warm, balanced and very personal. A light-filled living space that opens to the garden, gentle connections between old and new, and the sense of a house that has been truly cared for.
